The basics of transloading consist of:

  • Ship: Products are loaded into a railcar and shipped from its origin headed to the transload site
  • Receive: The freight car is received by Canton Railroad and then is spotted or placed at the transload
  • Unload: The products are then carefully taken from the freight car and set for storage
  • Storage: Canton Railroad will then safely keep the products in storage until the customers need the goods. Both short-term and long-term storage agreements are available.
  • Transload: The products are transloaded to short-haul trucks for the final leg of the journey, and the sequence is complete
